And He Don't Care
I wished I had found this a bit earlier. This is for my dear brother. The introduction to the concert should describe, more eloquently, what I had meant to explain about the recording/live-techniques.
I should also add that I've never been a fan of The Beatles early work (I understand that may seem blasphemous to some, but I preferred their day-glo LSD mind-trippin' catalog), though I've always carried a tremendous respect for it. The Carpenters version
of "Ticket To Ride" hits home for me. The tempo change at the end of the chorus. The fucking tempo change. Christ on a bike.
It slays me so hard.
I know it's not cool to like The Carpenters, but I don't care. There's something about Karens: Karen Carpenter. Karen Peris of The Innocence Mission. And my sweet, wonderful Mother, Karen Skelly. How I love you all.
